HackAccess Dublin @ Google HQ

Posted on Nov 13, 2017

Huge Congratulations to our 5th yr Student Minecraft Group who gained 2nd place in the HackAcess Dublin event at Google HQ at the weekend

This was a hackathon event bringing Dublin’s innovators from various disciplines like engineering, technology, design and public service together to tackle various challenges that exclude people with a disability from society . The group were invited to attend on the back of the success of their Minecraft project, where they had re-imagined and redesigned Pres Bray.

The students: Jack Lawlor, Lochlann Megannety, Conor Kelly, Killian Taylor and Pearse O’Neill developed a rating system for Dublin spaces around disability usage.  They were competing against Social Innovators, IT people, Web People, Graduates etc.  This was a fantastic experience for our students to compete against such people and they were easily one of the youngest groups there.  They were also privileged to be given some coaching in the art of pitching for projects from one of the tutors from Dragons Den.
